October 29th, 2010 12.30 AM
Ashta means "8" and Varga means "division".So the division or set of 8 factors is called as Ashtavarga. In other words it is the combination of the good and bad positions of a house with respect to the 7 planets and the Lagna (the 8th).
Ashtavarga is used to ascertain the good and bad effects caused by the planets, in their transits through the Rasis of the zodiac. The houses which are considered for calculation are the Lagna, 2nd house, 4th house, 9th house, 10th house and 11th house.
To have a successful life:
To analyse in detail, if the points of lagna, 9th house and 11th house in the Sarva-Ashtakavarga chart are higher than that of 6th house, 8th house and 12th house then a successful life is assured for the native.
To have a successful Career:
In the Sarva-Ashtakavarga chart, the points in the 10th house should be equal or more than 9th house and the points in the 11th house should be more than 10th house of Karma or profession and 12th house should be less than 11 house of gains and only then the horoscope promises for a steady financial flow in a native's life.
To be wealthy:
1.If the total points of houses counting from 1st, 2nd, 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th comes above 170 then it is a good sign for the native to become rich over a period of time.
Importance of Ashtavarga in individual charts:
1.If a strong Sun is associated with a high score in the ashtakavarga of Sun,
he will be a politician or important person in the society who commands a great deal of respect like the Sun.
May the creator of the Universe bless you all!
